The amount of Spam I'm getting has suddenly increased, why is that?
The principal reasons for suddenly getting more spam (despite the Junk Mail Filter being active) include :-

1. Your spam mailbox is full
2. Your spam mailbox is disabled (due to not having been accessed in for an extended period of time.)

You can resolve the first issue yourself by clearing the mail from the mailbox yourself, by so doing allowing spam to be delivered to it once more.

If that is not the solution or the mailbox is locked out, you'll need to raise the matter with Support who will be able to look into this for you.
